Secure Access to Newsgroup Servers

Welcome to secure newsgroups. We firmly believe in your right to privacy. This includes secure access to any and all newsgroup servers.

Whether you are new to Usenet or a veteran looking for secure access you've come to the right place.

Secure Newsgroups

There are a steps you can take to better protect your privacy online. When it comes to newsgroup access you can use encryption technologies like Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Secure Shell (SSH) to secure communications between your PC and the newsgroup servers.

SSL vs. SSH?

  1. Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is an encryption technology used to prevent easedropping between communications across a network. This includes your newsgroup connections. SSL encrypts and decrypts the data sent across the network but does not require authentication to the network itself. There are a number of newsgroup providers that currently offer SSL encryption.
  2. Secure Shell (SSH) allows you to make a secure connection to the newsgroup server itself and encrypts all communications to and from the server. This requires a secondary encryption provider. There are a few newsgroup servers that have partnered with SSH providers to offer this enhanced secure access.

Use either Secure socket Layer (SSL) or Secure Shell (SSH) to secure your access to newsgroups.
